GERMAN FESTIVAL EVACUATED DUE TO TERRORIST THREATS

A popular festival in Germany called Rock am Ring is currently evacuating patrons following terrorist threats.

On the evening of June 2, the festival was made aware of terrorist threats which prompted authorities to act. They quickly established that evacuating the 80,000 attendees was the best option.

Rock am Ring posted a message on Facebook to update ticket holders and share hope that the festival may continue in the future. The main goal is to cooperate with local authorities and urge “visitors to leave the festival site in a calm and controlled manner towards the exits and camping grounds.”

The recent terrorist threats come just weeks after an attack occurred in Manchester at an Ariana Grande concert, killing at least 22 people. Local UK festival Parklife declared it would go on as planned, stating "we will not be defeated by such cowardice".

Read Rock am Ring’s complete statement below.

"Due to a terrorist threat the police have advised us to interrupt the festival.
We ask all festival visitors to leave the festival site in a calm and controlled manner towards the exits and camping grounds.

We have to support the police investigations.

All visitors will be kept informed about any developments on all Rock am Ring Social Media channels, radio and the speakers.

We hope that the festival will continue tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation." - Rock am Ring (offiacial facebook page)
